LE THIERS knives???

I can think of a number of knives that could be referred to as Le Thiers. It is their premium knife-making city, after all. There is also a sleek, solid style of knife known as Le Thiers. They come in different sizes and made of different materials, with consequent variation in price.

Sorry for the incomplete question. I just look at their folder with 12C27 steel and wood scale handle. How's their built quality and the steel heat treatment?

Going to the website, I clicked on their link to Pocket Knives and found this:

The Le Thiers brand of French pocket knives is made by La Coutellerie Chambriard in the city of Thiers, France, a family owned business with a longstanding history of dedication to quality, integrity, and customer service.

This is the same company I found at Cutlery To Go at http://www.cutlery2go.com/coutcham.html but these are a heavier version than yours, and lockbacks, and consequently more expensive.

The knives look good to me. I don't know about their pricing, if you could get a better price elsewhere, but it doesn't seem outrageous.

This one was definitely worth the money. Snakewood.

It sharpened up very well and makes a great "gentleman's knife".

It is a very clean design. The first time I saw an Al Mar Shrike, I thought of it as an updated Thiers pattern.

I have the Le Thiers Par Chambriard with stag handles and 9.5cm blade, and it's one of my favorite dress-up knives. I generally stay away from the traditional styles of knives, but the sleek lines of this one called to me. It's non-locking, but takes quite a bit of force to close.

I bought mine from ebay, and paid about $75 for it. The steel isn't as hard as something like 154CM, or D2, but more comparable to 440C, in my opinion.

I used to check out Cutlery To Go all the time, and they usually had a great selection for that brand.

I say go for it.

Daniel
