I have always considered leaf bags to be a main part of my kit,in fact I put it in my top 3,knife,fire starter, leaf bag.Canoeing the Yukon or hunting local farmland always have 1or2.I get large heavy duty ones. They make a good groung sheet, poncho,or cut them open and use as a tarp.Btw for a poncho don't just poke a hole and stick your head out,cut a corner into a hood.I've read a lot here about peoples "kits" but never read any that used leaf bags.Am I the only one?

I dont really get what a "leaf bag" is. I cant find any translation. What is it normally used for? Sounds like a bag to put leafs in, but what is that? Just a simple black plastic sack or what.

sgt.d yes a plastic sack used for leaves and other yard waste. They come in rolls and fold really compact.Cheap, light and take up little room.Where I live you rake the leaves up out of your yard, some places you put them in these bags for pickup. In my town you rake the leaves to the street and the town comes by with trucks with really large vacuums and sucks up the leaves.

The kit lists do leave these out you're right! I carry a few in my jump kit, and I also carry smaller, quart-sized (about a liter) bags with me. One or two unused and compressed, a few more already stuffed with some of the other things in my pack.

some will let you hide in a field of giant jack-o-lanterns, too!

Sgt D, many folks here call them "trash bags", too.

both Wal-Mart and Home Depot carry the "Husky" brand, VERY heavy-duty 45 gal, 2mil bags that measure 3'2" x 3'11". that's the heaviest bag i've been able to find in my area. now, if they just made them in OD!

OK I've got it. We call them plainly "black trash bag".We do have a blue, thicker variant wich is often used with field- outhoudes.(You wouldn't want to be the guy emptying one of these where the thinner variant has been used)

Best regards
Daniel
