Leafstom Sales?

While I've not swapped out the Leafstorm scale, I have swapped out 5 of the Griptilian handle sets with the Wilkins Grips. Those weren't that difficult. I can't imagine the Leafstorm process being overly difficult either.

If you are not technically inclined with things like that, Gary at Moore Cutlery will do it for you. All you have to do is send him your knife and he will take care of it.

Best, Les.

are they hard to change out? any problems?

Good to hear that the sales for the Leafstorm are doing well. It's a smaller knife and I get the impression that knife buyers think: smaller knife = less material = less cost. $150 street for a US-made S30V/G-10/Ti framelock is quite reasonable. A Strider PT is twice the cost and has very similar construction.

I didn't initially like the translucent G-10 but have warmed to it enough that it's on my very short "to buy one day soon" list. One thing I won't change my mind on is the pocket clip: it looks like an afterthought. Just minor observations. From the pictures I've seen there is a very high degree of finishing work [radiused edges, excellent grinds, pivot bushing] for a production folder.

I did mod the clip on my Leafstorm. Used very small jewellers rat tail file to offset screw holes so that clip rotated to be inline with lock bar cut out....looked alot better. Don't use clips....removed it anyway.

Look who's asking for pics ! I don't have digital camera and wouldn't know how to stuff pics in this teletype machine.

If someone is willing and capable of swapping clips AND posting pics, I will gladly send them my modified clip. Don't need it returned as I don't generally like clips anyway.

I bought a set of scales from Gary at Moore Cutlery. Originally I ordered the Olive one, but Gary called me and told me all he had left is black. I will swap them out tomorrow.

The Leafstorm's looks, design, quality and price have been discussed a lot, but I don't read much about it being a user knife.

I have been carrying and using mine since August as a weekend pocket knife without clip. Rides well in pocket...more sheeple friendly than my Caly3/VG10 which I rotated Leafstorm with...and don't miss or need the Caly finger choil for all cutting tasks...and contrary to comments from most non-owners, I have NOT cut myself on back corner of blade.(did knock off corner with stone).

In all cutting tasks the Caly3 was only better when slashing cardboard while breaking down boxes(better grip and handle to blade geometry).

My Leafstorm handled everything that a 2.5in blade could. I would not call it a gentleman's knife. It will handle a hell of a lot more than string and fingernails. Have major resharpened twice after dropping on ceramic tile and concrete. It is a shame to keep this knife in a drawer and not use it.

I don't much care for the translucent G10. It's kinda odd, because I like the Bark River version of the same stuff. They use black liners with it. Maybe just removing the G10 and giving the inside face a coat of black paint would jazz it up for people who don't like the current look.
