Here's a possible problem with plastic 1 gallon water bottles( supermarket variety). I usually keep a dozen or so gallons of bottled water around the house and rotate the stock -more or less - regularly. Anyway , recently I happened to invert a bottle as I picked it up and it leaked! The seal was still intact, but there was a pinhole in the seal that was only evident when the bottle was turned upside down.
I write a date on the bottles as I buy them, and this one was only a month out of the market. Checked the rest of my stash and didn't find any others leaking, but since then I did find 2 more on supermarket shelves.
Don't know how widespread this problem might be, but just wanted to suggest that those of you who do keep a supply of bottled water on hand check the seals on the ones you have and check at the market before you buy.
