Just purchased a new Mean Lean Street. I have a couple of questions on the Lean Mean Street -

1 - How does it differ from the 'regular' Mean Street ?
2 - Does it have the same Busse steel (Infi) ?
3 - What are the properties of the black blade coating ? Is it rust resistant ?
4 - Is Busse still making this knife and if not, why did they stop making it ?

thanks in advance !

Answers:

1. Differs from regular Mean Street in that
it's 3/16"(.187) thick, as opposed to the
regular Mean Street that is 1/4"(.250).

2. Yes, it is INFI steel.

3. Not 100% sure of blade coating properties,
though it is definitely rust resistent(and
then some). The INFI steel itself has some
extremely high resistance to corrosion even
without being coated.

4.None of the Mean Streets are made any more.
This includes the regular, the Desert Warfare
and also the Lean Mean Street. As with all
high-end knife makers, it is not feasable to
continue manufacture of all knives that are
introduced. Some need to be phased out, so
that others can be developed and produced.
The discontinuing of a particular model, also
aids in the collectibility and appreciation
in value, of said knife.

great answers Slag, thanks.

the one I have comes with a Kydex belt sheath. Are there any other sheath options that are readily available. ? I was hoping for a concealex type rig.

For sheath options, I would reccomend
On/Scene Tactical(concealex sheaths)

Check out the FS forum and search for Busse
Kydex, as there were LMS concealex sheaths
posted awhile back.

Don't be afraid to put the knife to work, it
would still hold it's resale value extremely
well. Besides, the LMS is an awesome piece!

Andrew Pinchen has, I believe, a few of the On Scene kydex for Mean Streets in stock. Check his profile and kick him an email. . .he'll get you taken care of.

I highly recommend Normark's Sheath for the LMS. I just received mine and I love it.
