Hi all .
Well I started making 2 lock back folders and a 2 blade trapper and this is what i found out.
1. Don't harden the steel until it is close to what you want.
2. Don't take for granted drilled holes are square .
3. Don't get your fingers to close to abrasive belts because they cut and burn.
4. Take your time and study what you are wanting your finished knife to look like.
5. All this said I have a bucket of scrap and have knot finished a knife yet; I have 3 that are very close and almost ready for scales but only time will tell.
6. May God bless you all out there that post and help us beginners with all your answers to questions.
Thanks. J R Hartman

There is a pretty big learning curve in knife making. I too have about 30 peices of O1 that never became knives. Lots of steel, lots of belts, little results!

I am just about ready to admit defeat on slipjoint #4. Part of my problem is lack of time/ proper work space. Still...I think I'm hooked.
