• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Learning to forge: scrap steel or "good" steel?

Hey, that's a really nice-looking knife. Good job!
I like the retention of the file texture for the grip and the file ID markings too.
How does it feel in the hand? Is it a tad heavy being all steel?

:D I like the way you left the "Flat Bastard" mark clearly visible on the knife, even when sheathed.

Hehe..you noticed that eh. Thanks for the comment. Did you notice I left some of the original file on the blade edge near the ricasso? Makes a handy serated section, at least until it gets sharpened away.

Thanks for the nice comments. The balance is a bit heavy towards the handle but I didn't notice it being overly so. It balances back in the finger groove where the trailing edge of your index finger would lay.

I'm generally not a fan of all-metal knives, but I really do like what you've got going in this one. Nice execution and the retention of the file 'checkering' on the handle and stamps/markings is really neat. Seems to me that's a pretty sellable product. I'd think about $150 would not be unreasonable for the one shown. Maybe you should do some more.
