least condensing sleeping pad?

You don't need a compression sack for a thermarest. open the valve, fold it in half twice and sit on it, when it stops hissing, close the valve, unfold and start rolling towards the valve. When it gets tight, open the valve again and keep rolling. close when done. Once you've got the air out that way, there isn't much more to compress, but it will stay that size pretty well. The self inflatables don't come with patch kits, but a mcnett seam-grip kit with the tenacious tape works well, and is all you need.
Inch and a half is pretty thick, that will be a comfy one. I have the old trail, and its pretty thin. Good for a skinny lightweight like me though.

problem is the package it was originally folded and sold in (not the nylon sack) was about half the size, and the pad could easily fold down to about 75% of the nylon sack volume, the limiting factor is the bag.

I know lots of guys who just stuff them around other gear. with practice you can quickly get them quite small. The stuff sacks they sell with are over-sized, not sure why since I wouldn't want to store it in one, but thats not a big deal. I just roll and pack, no bag. they are heavy enough as they are, no need to add more.

For me, 36 ounces is a lot of weight for a pad. Weighs as much or more than my bag and more than twice as much as my pad. Thanks though.
