On the NS sheath I have seen shims placed inside the sheath to add some friction to the blade. I have a French dagger from the 1800's in my collection that uses this method and it seems to work fine. They used something that looks like thin cardboard now. No telling what it actually is. Charlie and I have used leather as a shim and it seems to work well too.

Thanks Harry, great idea,I just bought a leather coat at a garage sale last weekend , I'll use some of the leather to shim the NS sheath.
