Vegetable tanned leather embossed on front and strap, stained, conditioned with Lexol, and sealed. I like removable and swiveling straps: if you don't want to use it just take it off, it swivels out of the way to reduce the risk of accidental cutting, and if it gets broken it's easy to replace. The snap on back is a little smaller than the snap up front.
