Leather fatigue in CRK slip cases?

Late last summer I got a new style wood inlay, I store it on my desk or dresser in the leather slipcase, and I didn't remove the clip.

I carried it last week and found that the knife slides out very easily now.

Three questions:

Should I have removed the clip first?

Am I not to store the knife in the slipcase when I am not carrying it?

Can I "reset" the leather slipcase?

I'm not sure it matters too much, I think I may prefer the snap mylon pouch anyway.

You may want to try wetting the slipcase leather in the hopes of it shrinking some.
