leather or kydex

I tried looking thru 8 pages and still couldn't find anything about this topic.

I have a RC3, I find the OEM sheath of RC3 would dull a portion of the edge whenever the knife goes thru in and out cycles. I get frustrated as I just strop the hair splitting edge to perfection and the edge gets dull while the knife wasn't even used. Do you think a Kydex or leather sheath can solve the problem? or which material dull the edge the least? Other factor is not important as I never put away my knives wet and what not. thanx

I would think a well made custom Leather sheath would not dull your knife at all.

With Kydex bending you really want a tight fit so getting the sheath to grip the knife is important and depending on how it's made this may cause the edge to come into contact with the kydex ever so slightly (most sheaths this is not a problem but it is not uncommon either).

You seem to be really concerned with edge retention between uses so I would recommend a good Leather sheath. Just my opinion.
