Ah ok, now we're getting better focus. Horizontal works well for a knife that size.

You could go with a Randall style pouch with either a dedicated horizontal loop or an X loop for that and vertical as well. Heres a Randall style pouch:

This one has a canted carry loop, but an X loop is an easy alternative.

sweet, I'd love to order one of these in an x loop.
