Thank you, guys. It's good to have some positive feedback.
I have burnished the edge now, using a very simple, yet extremely effective method MyWifeThinksImCrazy told me. I got an old towel (a frottee one, dunno if you guys call it that, it's fabric that has little loops of twine on it, makes it feel softer), made one corner wet with cold tap water and rubbed the water into the unfinished parts. When everything was nice and wet, I took the dry side of the towel and vigorously rubbed the edge with it. I'm really surprised how much effect that simple method has. I also finished the edges with some "Granger's G-Wax" which I've been using for my hiking boots with very good results. The edges look really nice now, no photos though. The lighting here in my room is terrible.
I also changed the retention paracord.
(The loop that the D-ring goes through is not riveted, those are chicago screws. I might have to take it off at some point. You never know, right?)
As you see, the belt loop is now absolutely free to dangle around. Great improvement. I have the knife strapped to my leg at this very moment, and I don't even feel it. Amazing for a knife that size.
I will get some elastic webbing tomorrow and make a PALS attachment, so I can mount a pouch to the sheath to hold some survival goodies. I'll also take some pictures of the edge in detail and of course of me wearing the sheath. I really like the way it sits on my leg, the handle is angled slightly outward because of the very thick belt loop attachment. Makes for an easier draw.
I don't have a scale, but I think the sheath is quite a bit lighter than the knife.
