OK, I know I've some of you in here make knife sheaths, I jsut can't for the life of me remember who does. I am still learning myself, and will probalby attempt to make my own leather sheath for any knife before I send it out(and not send it out at all if it turns out well enough), but there are always too many things to learn. I have a friend who does my kydex work for me already, just looking for someone out there who will do leather sheathes on contract for fixed blade knives. Nothing over 10" overall, and probably not many that big even. 6-8", just small-medium hunters. Anyone interested, please let me know. And no, no rush on anything. STill learning quirks of this new grinder, and things I'm working on now are all tactical types that will go Kydex.

Dave(lifter4him), and Gary Graley, both do sheathwork for others. They're floating around here someplace.;) :D

Vote #2 for Tess Neilson!!!!

I'm getting Sheath #4 from her and planning on more.

Wow! Nobody has mentioned him yet... so here goes:
KENNY ROWE. (he gets all caps because he is the best!)
Seriously, I have had Kenny do all my leather work for my stuff, and he hasn't let me down yet. I have 5 projects for him that he is currently working on (I hope). Kenny has a fine eye for detail, rock solid construction and the soul of an artist.

When I was a kid growing up in Ellsworth, Maine, my after-school job was in a little shoe store there. One of my duties was to take shoes up to Tree Stump Leather (when he was on Main St) to get them repaired. I guess that's how Chris got his start.

He was an excellent shoe repairer, but even more fascinating was his display of leather goods in the window of his old shop. I don't remember seeing and knife sheaths back then, but I've heard from others how masterful he has become.

If you're interested in doing your own sheath here are some tutorials I wrote that might help. Watch it though, once you're hooked...

WRTC Mexican Loop Sheath Tutorial

WRTC Sewing Tutorial

WRTC Stitch Pony Tutorial

The first one is on how to make a Mexican loop style specifically, but the basics are all the same.

Bruce Evans also has a tutorial on his site on how to do a pouch style sheath.

and TANSTAAFL right back etp777. Mycroft still lives! and Mannie says hi.
