So the leather sheaths from Condor are great, but you get what you pay for, and that is an increased price. The sheaths probably bump the price up around $15 to $20

Do you think Condor should include sheaths for the Golok, El Salvador Machete, and bolo when they sell it, or should they do them separate? I would love to hear other's input.

I think that they should include it.

Honestly, these things are a great price, and even with the added expense, they still are a great price.

interesting. I present a few different scenarios. The carbon machetes would be like ontartios right, so around $20 bucks, but then with a sheath it would be as much as $30-$40...

But would that deter or promote it. let me know guys!

It's a tough question to answer, over the years I've seen equal numbers of people either leave machetes that had sheathes or leave them because they didn't.

Many folks turn their nose up at the good sheathes, offering that "It's just a machete, I'm not going to to pay more for the sheath than the thing is worth, I'll make my own". These guys either buy the thin canvas/cloth jobs or rig something from cardboard and duct tape.

Personally, I'd handle it like many of the old machete companies did- offer them as options, but not as standard.

a rifle needs a sling, and a blade needs a sheath.... without it will get left bhind or missplaced.... just my 2 cents

I say offer both options. That way everyone is happy :)

and I agree with m48shooter, My dad gave me a tramontina he got from when he was in his 20s, it came with a beautiful leather sheath, but the bottom half was ripped off (wear n tear). I ended up chucking it and just kept the machete. The tramontina sees little to no work, because I hate carrying things in my hands when I'm hiking, to me it seems one would be more prone to injuries or risk losing it, so instead, it stays in my yard shed, but I have nothing to use it on... so.. yea...

Could the sheath be offered as an option, Joe? You know, like $x without, $xx with. My thought, with as little as I know about retail, is that a sheath would be less expensive when offered with the machete, but more expensive when purchased separately after the fact, because of individual shipping, handling, etc. on the sheath alone. I would think that there would be a savings on the sheath when purchased at the same time as the blade.

I've been waiting on the bolo, myself. If it were offered with the bolo as a package/combo, I would probably buy it that way. If, however, I had to buy the sheath separately at a higher cost, then I just might forego the sheath altogether and make my own.

Either way, please get these things to market: we're all waiting.

Does anyone know if anyone actually has any of these new Condors? I haven't seen hide nor hair of them since Blade.

as much as $30-$40?...... most of us spend more than that on coffee in a week! I will never understand the hesitation in spending money on the most used (possibly the most crucial) tool in your kit. Sorry if I'm ranting.... but it just seems like we always want the best in our equipment. Folks will drop a couple hundred on items like boots, packs, guns, GPS's, flashlights, sleeping bags and tents.... but search out the cheapest blade they can find. Price is the deciding factor in most blade purchases.

I'll center out Joe.... cause he knows I love'm and pickin on mods is good fun....

He'll search out $10-15 machete with a $10 sheath and strap it on right next to his Maxpedition Bottle holder with Guyot and GSI Cup at over $70. (A GI canteen with cup goes for $15.) What up Joe? (But I suppose that is kinda what he does for his reviews anyway...... okay.... bad example..... I admit.)

Anyway..... shippem with the sheaths for pete's sake!

I'd say include them. I dont mind paying for the leather sheath included in with the product. I'm tired of seeing piss-poor sheaths on machete's, or no sheath at all. It's a real pain.

As they say, you get what you pay for.

I think you need to ship them with the sheath even if the price goes up.

You raised the bar with the quality of the machete, right?

I think you need to raise the bar with a quality sheath as well. People who know quality tools will have no problem dropping the extra coin for the complete package. Those who do not will continue to buy hardware store machetes with no sheath and leave them behind.

Think about it... Where else are you going to find a quality carbon steel machete and leather sheath for the price point you are suggesting?

I would be going with the optional crowd. However, if that isn't an ... option, than I would definitely go with the sheaths. Any of the people who won't buy it because $30-40 is too expensive doesn't know very much about the product, imo.

I say offer the sheat with the machete. For me a decent sheath on a machete is just the shove i need to go ahead and decide which machete i wan't.

thanks for your valued input ya'll (except Rick as usual :P)

ok, thanks for your input too Rick. You get a cookie.

Include the sheaths. I hate when I have to read to see if there is a sheath included only to find out that there isnt one. Then I have to search for the right sheath and the dealer either doesnt carry it, or is out, charges extra for "additional orders on shipping" or any number of other reasons.
Bottom line is including the sheaths make it much easier to order.

I dont know about all of them, but I would definatly include one on the golok. On the other ones, I think you would be okay separate.
