The other day I went to my local Tandy Leather shop and picked up a single shoulder of 6/7 tooling leather, a gouger, beveler, thread spacer, thread punch, artificial sinew, needles, black and brown alcohol dyes, and some satin shene finish. I tried my hand a few simple and quick sheaths off what I could find on interwebs and I really enjoyed it. So I searched for leather working dvds for sheaths and there are quite a bit of them out there, what is your take on the best ones for a newbie to invest in first? I see alot of Paul Long and Chuck Burrows DVD's listed out there I just want to make sure I am getting the best dvd I can, there is a lot of crap out there

Thanks,
Matt

Either ones will do. If you are starting out I would suggest Chuck's first since it covers hand stitching as well. But really, I would buy both right off the bat, best investment in your leather work you can make.

I have Paul's DVDs and they are worth every penny. The stitching is the only thing missing.

Chuck and Paul's DVDs are a great investment. But I would seriously consider adding Al Stohlman's book to your library.

I agree
They are old enough, you can get some PDF's online for free too if you search

They have differrent patterns

I think Chuck's are the best ones to start with because of the simple patterns and hand stitching
Once you're ready for advamced work, I think the Paul Long videos are excellent
I think the good lighting is one reason for the good quality video

YouTube 'Leodis Leather'... Ian Atkinson does some pretty neat tutorial stuff for free... He has some of the cleanest looking stuff I've seen and uses minimal tooling....

Thanks for the suggestions, I spent a few hours watching Ian Atkinson videos, very informative, i picked up some supplies based off his suggestions. I just got the flexible curve that will make life easy with that little gem
