leather wrapped handle... opinions?

so I've been looking around for some leather wrapped handle ideas, and I've seen some really cool turks head knots used, and a few other designs, so I thought I'd try some out on a piece of pipe i had sitting around. this wrap is called a three strand running cockscomb. there's a turks head on there too but i'm not sure if I'm going to use that or not... What do you think?

I'm planning on using it on a large-ish Saex that I am in the process of making. The handle will be leather wrapped wood.







obviously this is just 550 cord, so it's not quite the same, I plan to use leather strips of similar size though...
