I use 8-10 oz vegetable tanned leather in various colors from the local tanner.
There are most likely a few different suppliers in your area, but sometime just the convenience of places like Tandy is easiest...and Tandy has all the tools and stamps available.
Tandy is mail order only. Be careful they sell a lot of crap now.
Try looking at these companies. http://www.siegelofca.com/ check the friday
specials and buy bulk- good deal because they have an unconditional guarantee and pay postage. http://www.demersleather.com/
good prices and service
Thanks for the info Tom!!! I just placed the biggest leather order I've ever made!!! Man, that place in Cali is good! Take care!! Michael

I prefer 10 - 12 oz. knife sheath leather. I purchase it in sides from Muir & McDonald out of Dallas, OR. They have been in business for about 147 years and their leather is superb. A side runs about 22 sq. ft. and will cost you around $5.00 per sq. ft. (800) 547-1299
Try Moscow Hide and Fur, they probably have the largest selections around and their data base is linked to what you see on the webpage. I may be biased since I work 8 miles away from them and get to go over about twice a month and rummage around. they also carry antlers, furs, etc.
