leather

wondering what size of leather you use in making your sheaths.
i have been useing 8oz
i would thing this is heavy?

6-7 or 8-9 oz oak tanned shoulder. I had some 5-6 oz but it just seemed too thin except for small blades or folders. At 1/64" per oz., 8 is only 1/8" thick....

I use 7/8 oz. for everything, but I do also line everything with deer skin. On the very large knives I will 2 ply the leather with 7/8 coupled with 2/3 and then it still gets the lining.

I use 8/9 as it tends to wetform nicely and gives me a ridged sheath
