Yesterday a fat envelope arrived from Dwayne (AKA Leatherman) and inside were my birthday presents.

Dwayne and I did a partial trade, the partial trade was he making a sheath for my Camillus Talon.

I have one word for the pancake 'semi' high ride pouch style sheath he made for the Talon, ABSOLUTELY fantastic.
It has a nice dark brown inlay of what I think is lizards skin and it fits my Talon absolutely perfect.

The second sheath was also a pouch style sheath which included a Large Military Firesteel holder and it was a 'normal' belt sheath that was also just FANTASTIC.

The best part of that latter sheath was that it helt my birthday present from Recondoc (Doc Bretz) it was marked 'DOC 4' on the spine and made in D2 and has a Skandinavian grind.
I simply LOVE the knife that Doc made for me, it's very sharp and my left arm looks like that guys leg in the Tell Sell commercial about the hair removal stuff ;) it's devoid of hairs.
I also cut feathersticks with it and it does it perfectly, Doc also left a little extra 'square' metal in front of the grip (between grip and edge) that works perfectly to scrape sparks from the Large Military Firesteel.

Leatherman's work is just great and my love for leather sheaths compaired to the Kydex ones has just made a giant leap forward towards the leather. I still like Kydex but it misses that something extra that I love from leather sheaths.

Leatherman, Doc,

Thanks again, my 46th birthday is one I won't forget :)

Doc's in the sandbox right now, dont know when he will get to the forums so I'll say "thanks!!" for him for now.... Keep your head down Doc!!!!!!:p
Glad you got the stuff in good shape Bagheera! Yea, the inlay on that high ride is lizard, Tegu to be exact. Neat stuff to use. Does it fit like you had wanted it to?
Thanks Dave! Your quite the leather smith yourself! Thanks again for the gift, the pics are awesome!;) One O these days I gonna have one of them knives, hide and watch!
Thanks to you Gundy my friend, you have been one of the "good guys" as well! People at the shows keep drooling all over that HR that I traded you for, they keep me busy with the towel! :p :D

Heres a pic of that pancake sheath I did for Bagheera....

Leatherman,

I posted on two other forums because I could attach some pictures on these Forums and I don't see how to attach a picture on the Blade Forums. I astill have no easy way of copying pictures to my Webspace provided by my webprovider otherwise I could link them easy into a post on the BF.

Leatherman, the Camillus sheath even looks better all molded to accept the Talon and that's what I attached on the other sites.

Thanks again, best Scouting greetings,

Bagheera

Got a chance to get by a computer and just found this post. I'm glad that you like the knife Piet. The reason that nobody is very familiar with my work "yet" is that Piet's knife is the first one that I've seriously done for another person. I've been slowly tempering my skills and still have a long way to go in the world of knifemaking. If all goes the way that I'd like, I should probalby be up and running on a part time basis somewhere around 4-5 months after I get back from Iraq. I had just gotten my machinery and grinders put together and set up when I got the call from Uncle Sam.
All best folks. See you all when this is done.
Doc
