Leatherman Bushcraft

I would want a notch on the end of one of the locking saws, so that I could use the pliers almost twice the length, for pots. I've been thinking about this for a long time. Ferro rod scraper, REAL carbon file for quartz/flint striking, huge awl, small compartment to slide needles in, etc. I heard Dave C. was talking with Leatherman, hope he sees this thread.

The notch in the jaws does exist. It's called the cap crimper. Here it is on a black Wave.

I have a few multi tools to pick from. The one that earned a spot in my bag is the Leatherman Blast. It weighs 7 ounces and has a useful set of generously sized tools for this weight.

I love the idea of the detachable diamond file! Being able to maintain your Leatherman blade with the onboard diamond file would rock! I also like the idea of dedicated carving blades. One thing I always look for on my multi tools is an eyeglass screwdriver so I would want that feature kept. I'd also like to see some drill bits that could be used with the Leatherman tools.

Hey Bill, you have the detachable diamond file with the Surge. The Surge is basically a Wave on steriods. I doubt I would get that SRT. Not much different then the standard Wave and you'd be paying more because of the label.

I did not know that! Gonna put one on my "to buy" list now :)

dangit, you guys got me looking at leathermans....
There are several really attractive models. I like the smaller ones that are easy to tote, but the Surge is very appealing too.
I've had the juice CS4 for years, and it's like a super-SAK. It's a good tool, but mostly it rides around for emergencies and doesn't get a ton of use these days.

You guys should take a look at wildernessoutfitters channel on youtube with Dave Canterbury. He did a video on making his own custom leatherman for wilderness use
