Apparently, Leatherman had some FREE P2's left over after they discontinued them...the released a couple waves of them on Amazon for $80 and then the last batch went for $129. I was lucky to grab an $80 one and WOW! What a nice multitool! I think they only discontinued the P2 and P4 to limit competition for the ARC (at a much higher price of course)

The P4 was my EDC for years, and still would be if my wife hadn't gotten me a Charge TTi. I kinda dig the P4 more in a lot of ways. I would get an ARC if i stumbled across one and had a moment of weakness, but honestly, the Charge does what I need.

I do like the magnetic handles and tool set. The build in pocket clip is nice too :)

I would have prefered the P4 with the straight blade, saw and serrated blade but this P2 wasn't a bad deal by any means! I'd also like to get an ARC at some point! TTi would be really nice too!

The FREE series are some fun multitools. Got one for my father in law a few years back and had to buy one myself after. Never used it over my Charge or Surge so i eventually sold it, but theyre still great. Well worth 80 bucks.

I love the P2. I bought a replacement straight edged blade for a P4 and switched to it from the P2 half serrated. So much better in my opinion. I also have a P4 and an Arc. They are all great

I'm bumping this because I've found the P2 and P4 FREE series suit me best for most "outdoors" activities. Yes, I have an ARC and I like it, but I keep coming back the FREE multitools. Yes, I have like three of each (P2 and P4). One-hand access of the tools is great. The P2 was the first multitool I experimented with by replacing a pocket folder with the P2 for almost a whole year. That forced a couple of things.

Most of the time, the multitool is an afterthought for most tasks as I have a folder right at hand in my pocket. The one-hand opening of the multitool blade is a little slower than most modern folding (or auto) knives, but is still more than capable of getting the blade deployed and used.

Problem solving more than "cutting". Carrying the P2 as my primary EDC "knife" changed how I viewed tasks and the tool. It simply became a much more useful problem solving tool, used for much more than cutting stuff.

The ARC gets some carry time in some situations, but I won't lie. If I find another P2 or P4 for that price, even on Ebay, I may get another one!

I love the P2 and P4. I prefer multitools with fixed drivers for most uses (which is one of the reasons I EDC a ST Spirit most of the time). I find Leatherman bits rather flimsy, so I'd rather carry a separate bit wrench of ratchet that takes regular bits.

That's kind of the same evolution I've come to. The Leatherman bits are okay for very small projects, but I prefer some other type of 1/4 hex driver.

My only big issue with the ARC is the scissors. The scissors are okay, but if you look at the space available, they could have made them deeper and almost a 3/8 - 1/2 longer. I don't like to pimp Chinese copies, but ROCKTOL multitools does make a good copy (copy of the Wave) and the best feature is actually the size and function of their scissors:

I'm just nit picking. The ARC is a great tool, even better if their bit driver is a primary tool requirement.
