Leatherman Juice

Speaking of the Juice - does leatherman plan to make any of the tools locking in the future - at least some of the knife blades? That is the only thing holding me back from purchasing one.

I think the juice is their stab at a more SAK sized and featured product. Now I know that some of the SAK's have locking blades now but it certainly takes up more space to add a lock and I don't think Leatherman would want to bulk up their slim and trim line of tools for a feature that most people don't care about. I understand that people want the saftey of locking knives and tools but I wonder why I don't see any posts asking when Victorinox is going to add locking tools the the champ or the cybertool but LOTS of posts about why the juice is subpar due to the lack of locking tools...
The juice was designed for folks who don't carry multi tools usually, the knife knuts like us get the Charge and Wave :D

That being said, I still carry a juice pro.

Good points Neko2, but I think its the cost factor - the Juice's I have seen at retail outlets (XE6 model), can cost as much as a high end multi-tool. SAKs seem to cost a lot less.

Still though, I sure like the look of the Juice, I may still get one. And Leatherman will likely introduce a locking version a few months later given my usual luck with purchases like that.

As Neko said before, I don't believe the Juice models were designed for heavy duty work. The juice models were designed for light work and as a handy tool. That said, I think my juice, CS4, is great for its intended purpose.

I have one Juice in my multi-tool collection, I don’t remember which model, it is smallish with orange handles. Ah, what is this! It says S2 right there on the handle, all I had to do was turn it over!

Generally, I work most days on construction sites. I have a Wave or a Supertool on my belt, and use it several times a day for something. Every once in a while I need to dress up a little, or weekend and I don't want a big lump on my hip. The big tool goes into the drawer, and the Juice goes into my pocket. It is just the right size, and does everything I ask of it, which generally isn't much.

I think that the thing that sold me on the Juice is the fact that the one tool that can be opened with one hand is the bottle opener. This says to me that the guy who designed this thing had thought long and hard about it, and had his priorities straight. Have you ever had the feeling that the girl sitting on the bar stool next to you looked at you a little funny the last time you tried to chew the cap of your bottle of Newcastle Brown? This little gem is sooo much quicker and slicker.

I once spent a few weeks working on a jobsite in Colorado. One of the guys working for the GC carried an old PST in the standard leather belt pouch. The first time I saw his act I was amazed. He had reworked the action so he could just roll his hand and the handles would fall open, and the bottle opener would flip out all by itself. That guy could draw his PST, open a bottle, close the tool and put it back in its sheath in about a second and a half, at least early on in the evening. I had the feeling that he had been practicing this act for some time.
