Hey guys, I'm new to this thread so please bare with me. I have a leatherman multitool(nothin special attachmentwise) maybe 5-7 years old and I'm just interested what steel it is made of? Seems like it may be 420hc but not sure.
A quick search on google (I'm kind of bored at work right now) turned up this bit of info:
We use 420HC stainless steel for all our multi-tool knives, save the Charge and one of the Skeletool models. In these models we use 154CM. This steel holds its edge about three times as long as regular stainless steel and is perfect for people who use the blade on their tool more than the rest of the features. In the Charge TTi we use S30V® stainless steel for the knife, which holds its edge six-times as long as regular stainless steel. See the knife FAQs for more detail on knives. http://www.leatherman.com/knives/faq.aspx
