Leatherman or SAK?

Hey guys! I was just wandering, which would be better for farming a leatherman or SAK? I've only carried traditional knives but finding out that I need screwdrivers and pliers more than blades. I really don't like sheaths but a regular size SAK is a bit too small for me. Any input would be great! Thanks!

I personally would recommend carrying both but if you had just one choice I would go leatherman wave. Pliers are extremely handy to have

The leathermans look more abuse friendly. I'm pretty tuff on knives and getting tired of buying case knives. So would the screwdrivers in a leatherman withstand more than a SAK? I do like the larger SAK with the one hand opening blade and screwdrivers.

The screwdrivers on a leather man will do just fine. And the beautiful thing about the wave is that you can buy the removable pocket clip and never have to use a sheath.

Skeletool is okay, but its assortment of tools is somewhat smaller than that of the wave, rebar, super tool 300, etc. I would stay away from the wingman and the sidekick because they are considered lower end tools so build quality is going to be slightly inferior. The steel is thinner and the drivers are 2 dimensional, like those of the Gerber diesel (which i can attest to being an inferior driver design)
For manual labor jobs, the wave/surge will always be my go to tools.

The clip is sold separately, but isn't too awful pricey. Love mine on my wave, gives more options

I have to say that down on the farm the Leatherman wins. Mostly because of the pliers and the wire cutters. The screwdriver heads can be replaced and the saw is good. If I know I am going to be fixing fences then the fencing pliers have more leverage (10" handles) and a hammer head but my Wave will do a quick job..
However, I often carry a 111mmm SAK of one sort or another around and use it for knifey jobs - just easier in the hand for carving/whittling than my Wave.

so, a bit of both.

Any of the big Leathermans will do it all -- the Wave, the Supertool, the Surge -- but may be overkill and overweight. I mostly carry my Skeletool but for your heavier work, that might be too light.

Check out the Leatherman Blast http://www.leatherman.com/product/Blast
The Blast has a great selection of fullsize tools and an ergonomic handle.

I would recommend the Swisstool Spirit also.

Got a Leatherman Wave and Swisstool Spirit.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Spirit, got good selection of tools and feels more robust.

I'd recommend the Swiss Tool X over a Leatherman. I think the pliers are much better, as are the overall fit and finish. I EDC one and can't imagine using anything else.

I carry Leatherman and Gerber multitools. Some times I'll add a SAK to the EDC.

As you know, you never can have too many tools and just when you think you have it covered, you need yet another tool to fix what you're working on.
