leatherman or sak

I use both. I have had quite a few LM models over the years and have added a few Swistools including a Spirit. I usually carry the multi and a 84mm or smaller SAK. The Cadet or Bantam is a great companion to a full sized multi or a larger SAK like a Soldier, Farmer or Huntsmen is well paired to a smaller light duty multi.

Since you can never have too many knives; get an SAK and carry both for a while. For me the pliers are rarely used and I preferr the reduced weight and bulk of the SAK. Others have differing opinions. The right knife, for you, is the one that best fits your usage.
Enjoy!

+1 for both.
I carry a LM crunch and 1 of several saks. I like the big 111mm saks but that and a LM might be too much for some.

I have a Leatherman Wave II, Juice, and Charge, as well as 6 different SAK's that range from a Classic to a Pioneer.

But I carry a SAK Spirit multitool with me as my EDC- it's the best of both worlds. Match it with a nice Kellam puukko and I'm GTG.

I have one of the older Leatherman Supertools, and while it's quite a rig, the tools are a pain to get out. I carry it in my little art supplies bag with me everyday.....

..but my SAK Rucksack is what gets used most.

I have tried with several different models for the perfect SAK. I haven't found it. I do however use my Leatherman Wave, leave it in my truck. Until I find that perfect SAK, MT for me.

I prefer my leatherman wave to be in my truck PSK. When I'm out in the wood, I carry a Vic "Farmer".

My vote is the the Leatheran Wave. I don't ever recall using it in the bush but I think it is far more useful when working around buildings, machines, or vehicles.

If I ever had to make stuff out of a boat, car, or plane I would rather have a WAVE than a SAK. Like I said, in the bush my leatherman never sees the light of day. Out at our camp property I end up using it abouy every half hour, pliers mostly, fixing wiring, plumbing, window latches, appliances etc. I've used it to get my car running again (had to direct wire my radiator fan). They're a great tool to have along for everything other than the bush IMO. When I am going to be around cars, boats, or planes I always take it along.

In the bush I prefer to have a real knife, a real folding saw, and a real mill file. Mac

now we dont want to start a Leatherman SAK argument
or an airgun argument weather .177 or .22
or any other argument like that

Over, under airgun with a .177 upper and .22 lower barrel. A SAK bayonet lug mounted to lower barrel and a Leatherman in the butt stock trap door, like the old Lee Enfields. See... with ideas like this Im sure to get on a government committee any day now. :D

If you had asked me a few years ago I would have gone for the Wave tool Hands Down. This is still My Ems EDC

But as of late I have taken on a liking for the SAKs in the field. I usually carry my SAK Trekker and my origional leatherman afield but i am considering going to one of the simpler leathermans that they have in walmart for 30 $ just for the pliers and basic tools to compliment my SAK.

Damn You UPNORTH Now i have to buy Another SAK since you showed me the Rescue.

After edc-ing a variety of multitools, I have settled on the Swisstool Spirit. It has great build quality, compact size, and a sensible array of implements all accessible from the outside. I often pair it with a Spyderco Native.
