Hey guys,

so the other night I was over at the local Cdn Tire store and while browsing through I saw a leatherman Skeleton. I was intruiged by these when they first came out, but the just kinda went to the back of the list as I didn't really have any money, and I had plenty of multitools.

Well, in the mean time while carrying the Gerber I have, I just found the other tools not the handyest and I wanted something light, and nicer looking, Enter the Leatherman Skeletool.

Lets start.

So, while its a small tool, and not heavy at all, the first thing I thought when I picked it up is "well it looks great, feels great, is it?"
Well, so far it has been. The blade was decently sharp out of the box. The F&F was great, clean lines comfy to hold, and every thing I did with it was done in comfort. So far Im loving it.

A shot here with every one for reference. The skeletool is 5 Oz in weight and has a really well made pocket clip that can be removed should you want to.

First thing I did with it last night was try the bottle opener, now Im not so girly that I normaly can't get a bottle open, but I had to try it out.

Next are some shots of the front, right, back and left side.

Here you can see where the extra bit is held, its a two sided bit as is the Philips that also comes with it.
Like I say, its really nice looking, im impressed with shiny things and this is no slouch. The blade locks open with a liner lock, it has a decent sized lock considering the overall size of the tool. And though the blade didn't come incredibly sharp, it was a working edge.
Here are some shots of the lock and blade.

From what I can tell it has either brass or copper liners, which is a nice touch.
I wanted to try out the cutting efficiency, and also impressed with that. Dencent cutter, well made pliers and a general use selection of tools, nice.

A couple more pics......

I now have a decent EDC set-up that im comfy with, and here that is.

So, all in all for $60 bucks im very happy. I needed a light EDC multitool with a general use selection of tools. To bits, both double sided, a knife, wire cutters and pliers are all I use and need, so it Dilevered in every sense.

Very nice. I have always liked Leatherman's products. I have owned most of the tools over the last 10 years, finally settling on the newer version of the Wave. (I have one of the older ones too). Is this one light weight enough to ride in your pocket?

looks great. doesnt have to necessarily sit in your pocket since that clip looks like it would work well when clipped onto a d-ring on your maxpedition pack.

btw, real men open their beer bottles with their teeth :D

just kiddin.

thanks for the great pics i'll check this out when i go by mec

I love mine. I keep it on my climbing harness. Only thing is that the screwdriver bit that was in the socket is long gone. The tension piece holding it in gave out really quick. So now I only have the flathead bit. But all in all I love the thing.

I have one and like it, but it doesn't seem much use out of me. The screwdriver is not comfortable for me to use and I prefer that a multi-tool have more tools.

I LOVE the fact that is has a one handed opening blade, it makes it very convenient.

Skeletool took out one of the 2008 knife design awards but I still prefer my Wave. I think it's a bit like an actor finally getting an Academy when they should really have got one for an earlier film

It rides great, very light in the pocket. I feel its there as much as my Millie.

If you have held a Leatherman kick, its lighter than that, plus its not overly long, perfect for EDC.

If I were to buy one and only one tool, I would also get the wave. but if you just looking for pliers with a knife and screw diver for the small things, the skeletools lightness and compactness makes it a winner for sure.

Oh, here is a little video I did aswell, just to give a bit of reference.
