Me and my family (wife and 2 small kids) went with my in-laws to the cemetery this past weekend. After we were all done and walking back to our cars, my father in-law noticed that his passenger front tire was flat.
Went to get his jack in the trunk and to our surprise, the wing nut holding the jack to the frame was corroded solid.
I tried with all my might, but to avail would it budge. Then I remembered my Leatherman Wave in my pocket. Opened it up and I began to wrench on the wing nut. I thought the pliers were going to crack off for sure, but all they did was flex a bit. Got off the wing nut, changed the tire and away we went....

Feels good when you save the day....especially when the in-laws in involved :D

now you know what to get him for father's day. he's seen a leatherman working, and he'll be thinking about it until he gets one.

No, my father in-law has 5 thumbs and if you pay over .99 for a tool, he thinks your crazy!
I've bought him some tools in the past and once I had to go down into his basement to look for something and I found the tools I bought him still in their plastic case from the store!
I asked my wife what's the deal and she told me that he didn't want to use them because they cost too much!
I gave up....

Ha! :D That's the same logic that got him a rusted nut in the first place! I'm surprised the spare was not flat...probably a good thing you were there!

Mark, just tell him you found it for five bucks at a flea market or odd lot, he doesn't have to know. :D
