Leatherman Wave Alpha

I like my Arc an awful lot and will most likely get one of these in green or orange. $200? Ha! I know this section is down about the prices of these tools all the time, but the facts are, it's comparatively cheap for what you get. I've paid far more folding knives that have a tenth the number of parts involved!

Sign me up.

The Surge has some different tools - serrated blade, T shank holder for swapping a saw blade and file, and no mini screwdriver. It also doesn't have G10 handles or a Magnacut blade.

I could take or leave G10 handles, but I have to say the Magnacut blade on my Arc is superior to any of the blades on their other tools I've owned, enough that it's worth the upgrade price to me.

I saw a review posted with pics of an early release sample with the green scales and orange pivot rings and thumbstud on the knife and I have to say that I am not sure which of the two I'll be in for. I'm just hoping to get one, because I speculate these are going to go quickly upon arrival. $200+ for a nice multi-tool with a Magnacut blade from the company who invented the concept? Yep, I'm in line for one of these.
 
According to Leatherman, they're dropping October 14th.
 
The new ones look great but I’m still good with my original 1998 Leatherman Wave. It triggers lots of memories like field dressing a Rio Grande Turkey in Texas with it. And cutting a piece of fence wire to hang it. I don’t always carry it but when I need it in the field it’s a necessary tool.

The newer models are always bigger and heavier. Later for that.
 
I set my alarm for the day before, ill probably attempt to buy it directly off their website but its still up in the air whether or not I'll even have the money for it when it releases.

I will admit to some FOMO, but considering my 1st gen Wave, the Arc, the Curl my wife keeps leaving home, and the T4 in the cabinet, another multitool is literally one of the last things I need right now. And that's why I'm not tempted at all. No sir.

I don't need those full size scissors, or a grippy G10 handle. Definitely not interested in a cool blacked-out version. Not this guy. After all, while it has been said that "just because I already ordered dinner don't mean I can't look at the menu", it has also been proposed that "why would I go out for burgers when I got steak at home". Which is why I'm not gonna buy one. Not even for my birthday which is happening in a few weeks. Nope.

Dammit. I hope you all enjoy em.

Or maybe just order one, you can always resell it if owning one opresses you too much 😜
I have a wave plus that doesn't really travel outside the house, didnt stop me
 
Gents who got one... let me know how you like em, I'm interested, despite already having like a boatload of multitools including wave, arc, t4, surge, skeletool and others that already don't get used often, but I still want the wave alpha 😅

Im not too, too sure how I feel about the G10 despite it being my favorite scale material, but we'll see how it does in a full sized leatherman, ill remain optimistic
