Leatherman Wave

I've been told that the Wave is part of the
LAPD SWAT teams'"standard-issue" equipment. Can any LEOs confirm this?

Leatherman Wave blades are easy to open left hand, although not quite as easy as right. Simply start the blade with the tip of your index finger until it is far enough out to pick up with your thumb.

I have several versions of the multi-tool. I like the SAK best. I have a NIB Wave to trade...

I think my question regarding the Leatherman Wave Tool Kit got lost in the length of my post.

If anyone knows the answer, my question was:

I did email 1SKS about a month or so ago, with a query regarding the tool kit, which is now available for the Wave. Their description and that of another web site implied there was a special belt sheath. As far as I can tell this is just the hard plastic tool holder which has a clip on the back. If anyone knows about this I would be curious as to whether there is actually any special supplemental sheath.

Thanks.

I visited Leatherman's website yesterday, and they have a link for the Wave's tool kit, and sheath.

I picked up a Wave yesterday, and while it's not as heavy duty as my old Gerber, I like the additional tools. Time will tell how well it holds up. Has anyone had problems with plier breakage on any Leatherman tool? I had an original Leatherman long ago, and broke the plier jaws off tightening a nut.

Code 3,
I'm surpised about the pliers. But they are guaranteed for 25 years. I have an original leatherman and put it through everything you could imagine back when I worked as a diesel mechanic. Took a lickin' for years and kept on ticking. Never had a single problem with any of my leathermans and the only complaints I've heard have been about the wave. Most seem fairly minor though.

I don't know why the jaw broke, but I opted to replace it with a Gerber back then. Maybe the cast was bad.

I've heard good things about the Wave, so I picked it up. I paid 58 bucks for it, and it included a mini Maglite, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. They didn't have the supertool, so I didn't get to compare.

I'd like to hear what the main dislikes are, besides the screwdrivers, ect. not locking.
I have no problem with the screwdrivers not "locking". My old Gerber had no locks on anything, and I never had a problem. I mainly use the tool as a "quick fix". if I need heavy duty stuff, I venture to the toolbox.
