Leatherman Wingman blade change

They are both very easy to take apart and the blade size/placement are identical, so I don't see why not. The real trick would be to take the larger Wave blade and fit it into a Wingman. There's enough room there for it, but I don't know if it's a fit otherwise. You'll also have to find some broken Wave to harvest the blade out of.
They're compatible. My Wingman now has the plain edge blade from the Sidekick, and I also swapped the file / screwdriver for the serrated blade. If you do change the blades out, there's just one phosphor bronze washer, and it's between the blade and the inner frame.
The Wave blade won't fit in the Wingman or Sidekick. The locking slot (on the Wave's blade) is too large and you'll have to file it down. File it down, and it won't lock in the Wave body again.

This Sidekick modification video is sorta cool. Though I can't recall where, I saw also where someone adhered some sandpaper to the back of the file (thus covering the ruler) for some added utility.

I did the sandpaper mod, but never posted it. You have to remove the pin and tools, then put the washer (originally between the handle and package opener) between the package opener and file, or else the package opener will scrape the sandpaper off over time. Alcohol wipe the ruler and sandpaper's back. I used Super Glue gel (apply to the ruler, allow to dry for five minutes) and trimmed the sandpaper to fit. Apply to the glue and squeeze with fingers. Trim the edges. Put a clamp on the sandpaper for 20 minutes. Clean up. I used 400-grit sandpaper and left some of the tool's tip exposed so I could still use the screwdriver.
Sandpaper mod sounds cool, and yes i have seen the video of the modded sidekick and have been commenting on numerous youtube vids for anyone to trade my combo edge for a straight edge from the sidekick...no takers. my new problem is my scissors are dull and the pivot is very loose! any way i could sharpen the blade or better yet tighten the pivot?

I don't see a way to tighten the pivot; mine is pinned on both sides. I guess you could lay the tool on an anvil, set a punch on the rivet, and use small taps from a hammer. But, this could break the pivot and I don't recommend it. As for sharpening the scissors, sharpen the outside bevels (I use a flat ceramic) and the remove the burr on the inside (but don't sharpen the insides). I don't have a spare plain edge blade, but I do have the saw from a Sidekick if anybody is interested.
im interested in the saw. wanting to swap out my wingmans scissors simply because i havent been using them. inbox me if you want to trade scissors for saw please
If you want the saw, you have to lose the scissors. I tried putting the saw in the blade's place since I always have a blade on me, but the saw is too big and has to be filed down to fit in there. E-mailing you...
