Debating on getting a leatherman. not sure what I'll specifically do with it yet, guessing mainly EDC, will most likely be companying my primary knife.

I've read many people like Charge & Wave. Would those be bulky/thick? also, how'd Blast hold up comparing to those two?

What do you guys often use yours for/most useful feature you find? Any recommendation from y'all?

For me, outside accessible blades are a must. Scissors are great too. I EDC a surge, and horizontally carried it isn't a problem at all. I just prefer the charge/wave/surge series over the others, but it depends on how you use it.

Charge tti. S30V blade, new pouch holds 20 screwdriver bits, tons of attachments, only down side is price @ about $120-$140. Well worth it IMO.

Nah, get a SAK. I have had a few SAK's, and a couple Leatherman's, but I very much prefer the SAK. I would definitely take the SAK for everything, unless you need the true pliers, the SAK's have pretty poor pliers in comparison.

I think the Charge or Wave are both great allround multitools for EDC. I own both a Charge and Wave, but don't carry them as an EDC item. If I want to have pliers in my EDC, the Juice S2 fits my needs better and it can be carried in the coin pocket. The Charge and Wave are used mostly for doing jobs around the house and for camping. Having a one hand opening blade on the outside is great and the pliers also work fine for a lot of tasks.

A Leatherman is a great investment. You'll always be glad you're carrying one.

I EDC a Wave now, in a sheath. It is very bulky. I use the pliers very frequently. I use the scissors fairly often. I never use the knife blades since I also carry a dedicated knife. I used the saw once, in desperation, and it worked for what I needed it to do. I use everything else in it infrequently. I'd actually like to see a version without the blades, keep the file and maybe the saw, loose the can bottle opener, and keep/add to the screwdriver/bitholders. You know, they ought to make these things customizeable. Maybe a business opportunity here.

For a pliers-based multitool, you owe it to yourself to check out the Victorinox Swisstools, particularly the Spirit. It is compact but very robust, and the implements open without unfolding the pliers.

I second this. I'm a huge leatherman fan and EDC'd a wave for a few years and still use it often. I've also recently explored the Victoinox swisstool spirit x, both models have pros and cons over one another but I'm definately carrying the spirit x the majority of the time these days. If I had to choose just one? I couldnt tell you, like I said both are excellent and shoudl be considered. Both tools will likely last you many years so might as well explore all options!

A lot of people will say they are to bulky for EDC, but that all depends on how you carry it. I manage to carry both the wave and swiss tool in my coin pocket on my jean. It fits and neither one have ever fallen out and I don't notice its even there until I need it.

i've had a wave for a few years now and i've used it for just about everything, and it did most things fine. the down sides are it's a bit bulky and i pinched myself many times when squeezing the pliers since the blades close tight to each other . i would get a skeletool for edc, but if you're dead set on getting a charge/wave i would buy a charge tti. its basically the same as the wave but it has better knife steel(s30v), titanium handle slabs and a gut hook.

I carry the Wave in a double holster with a single AA LED flashlight. When I go someplace where the belt holster would be inappropriate, I carry one of the Juice models in a pocket.

I carry a Leatherman every day. It gets used whetether at work, at home, or at play.

Brother Passin, it depends on whether you want to haul around a medium to large multitool on your belt, or a small to medium multitool in your pocket. I have tried them all, and generally gravitate toward something like a Leatherman Kick or Blast in my pocket. You gotta ask yourself if you are really going to use a file or a saw from time to time, or if a plier head and drivers will do the trick for you.

Part of the "fun" also is just knowing that you are prepared for whatever comes your way. Stuck in an elevator all night? No prob, because you just disassemble the dang thing with your Leatherman Blast and exfiltrate yourself.

Its like a pocket knife or a small flashlight. Once you start carrying it, you'll find how useful it is and you'll never give it up.

I EDC a Charge - the version without scissors. I use it every day too, and when i'm working I carry a flat pouch that contains all the replacement screwdriver bits I may need. It is slightly heavy and bulky I suppose, but that subjective assessment depends on your tolerance. Over the years I've learned, as most here have I'm sure, to find a happy middle ground comfort zone with equipment I consider essential to bringing every day to a successful conclusion.

The Charge in a pouch alongside a 2AA LED light gets accompanied by the SAK in my pocket that carries scissors and all the usual goodies.

For 9 years my multi-tool EDC consisted of an original Super Tool and a Micra. During that time, I flirted with other makes and models, but they came and went. Eventually, I wound up with several Leathermen, but my go to these days is a Charge TTi, carried in a pouch with extender and awl mod that fits into the QR slot. Worn on a belt, the felt weight is hardly noticeable to me, and it is even carryable in some pockets by clip or lanyard suspension, although YMMV both. Other Leathermen are larger or smaller, good for special purposes or convenience, but if I were to keep only one, it would be the Charge.

I carry my leatherman charge on the hip with a Army logo SAK in my pocket. The charge gets used for big jobs, where the SAK is just for the scissors pretty much. That and Uniform maintanence! (gotta keep these ACU's looking fresh! no strings haning off of them) Then I usually have my zt 0650 or 0551 in my right pocket. the external blade on the charge is pretty cool. same with the serrated one too. i find myself using the serrated on a lot more, partially because i dulled the main blade opening a can of tuna and haven't sharpened it back yet. but they are for sure handy, same with all the screwdriver bits!
