Leaving feedback

I listed a knife and traded it to another member but we can't leave feedback. Comes up with an error everytime. I tried multiple ways

Did you make a thread in the Exchange, or was it via private communications outside the forums? Did the other member post in your sale/trade thread or contact you elsewhere?

To leave feedback you need to have started a thread for the knife and have the other member comment on that thread, if both of you don't have visible communication on a thread in the Exchange you won't be able to leave feedback.

^ Along with that, I believe the thread has to remain open, you'll get the error trying to leave feedback in a locked thread.

Thanks I think that might be it, I did put it in the exchange. I believe he pmd me here but didn't write anything in the thread for the knife so that might be why. Still figuring out how it all works. Thanks again

Feedback requires a thread.
Both parties have to post in the thread.
The thread has to remain open (as far as I know) for feedback to be given and received.
Once that is done, the thread can be closed.

When I joined the forum in 2010 I read the rules for selling in The Exchange before I listed my first sale. At that time, there was a clause in the rules which recommended that sellers close their sale threads after all items were sold and funds were received. I don't think it was a hard fast rule, just a recommendation.

I just checked the rules and that clause appears to have been removed.

Anyway, I got so accustomed to closing my sale threads when payment was received that I've been doing it ever since. My threads are always closed when feedback is given and received and I've never had any problems with myself or the buyers leaving feedback for my closed threads. This has held true both before and after the forum upgrade.

This site confuses me sometimes. I'm not even sure where to find my thread unless I go to it in the list of post. MB I'm just missing something or a little slow. I like the site and the fact that it exists but it seems outdated and overly complicated for some things that should be simple.

We used to subscribe to threads, now we watch threads, so if you want easy access to your threads hit watch thread.(top of the thread and to the right of the thread title)
