Fellow K2'ers, looking for an image that shows;

Regular leek, blade opened, shot looking down on the edge of the
knife and handle

with it next to

G10 leek, setup as the other

what I need to see are two things, how thin the edge is ground
down and if the G10 handle is any thicker than the regular leek.

Thanks in advance guys,
G2

Well gang, never mind, was able to google about and found what I was
looking for regarding the G10 scaled Leek, so put those cameras away...

Glad you found what you needed Gary...at the time you made your request I only had 2 Leeks, one polished G10, and the other coarse G10, not really the differentiation you were looking for.

The Damascus with stainless body I got in today probably would have qualified frame-wise as a regular Leek.

Ray :)

Thanks well, the image I found kind of shown that the g10 one is a little bit
thicker overall than the regular leek, which I find too slim for me, so I think
I may try one of the g10 ones, the coarser ones...
How do they feel in your hand?

Gary,
The Textured G10 Leek is one of my favorites. The G10 is really grippy, it actually feels like it's holding onto the palm of your hand, yet it's not overly rough on fabric and doesn't shred my pants like some others do. The stonewash finish on the blade is also very attractive! Great little knife. I have a couple Leeks;)

Cheers,
Jon

...Gary I agree with you that the "regular" Leek handles, whether SS or Ti, are far too small for the "mitts" I have hangin' from my arms. Like Jon, I've taken the coarse G10 handles from a 1660CGT but I've replaced the S30V blade with the reverse tanto PE blade for EDC use. With the coarse G10 the knife is terrific for me. It's still a "mite" small but it's a great improvement over the "regular" handles for me...Go for it...:thumbup:

That's what I needed to hear, sold, thanks guys!

Found a thread today that has a very nice write up with the exact images
I was looking for, seen Here Thanks to Vincent, aka UnknownVT for his great work,

Thanks, very neatly done!

She arrived today, very nice, solid lockup, no blade play
the G10 adds just the right thickness to the knife, where the
all steel version, for me, was too thin to hold and very slippery when wet.
BUT, and there always seems to be one of those ;)
The edge bevel must have been hand ground on a late friday night
as I've never seen a knife arrive in such condition.
While it could be said that it is sharp, it's not any where consistent
along the edge. If you looked down the blade at the edge bevel, you
can see it wavering all over.
I spent about an hour or so reprofiling the blade, now the edge is
even again and it's VERY sharp now, exceedingly so :)
Overall, a big plus, but on the downside, shouldn't need to redo the blades
edge bevel so much.

Only one other nit pic, if that, is the liner lock, light weight in comparison
to the other leeks, but of course those were frame locks, still they could
have possibly used the same side weight? maybe, but again, a small nit pic
one that doesn't concern me as I do not intend to fight with this knife and
I'm pretty careful when using a knife, have and use slippies without problems...

I was going to photograph that bevel, but didn't, long day at work and depressed
when I saw it and new I was in for a long sit at the sharpening stones.

But later on I'll take some shots, as I'm prone to do, and post them here.
Thanks again guys, good idea on getting this, I was on the fence and your
comments shoved me over, very glad to have this :)

Here are a couple quick shots tonight, with a custom Fuzzyedge bead
on a braided piece of leather for a fob

as I say, she's all sharp now, push cuts through thick leather easily.
The blade is ground with a hiccup near the tip, which added to the
poor edge bevel.

Looks good Gary...thanks for the pics, and sorry you landed one with a poor edge bevel. Fortunately you're more-then-competent enough to have dealt with it yourself instead of having to wait to use it if you'd sent it in.

As a mostly-Kershaw knife buyer, I obviously wish they were all perfect!

I really like the thong-an-bead lanyard.

Ray :)

Thanks Ray,
Usually Kershaw's have had an excellent history of quality blades, Junkyard dog II being
one of the very best buys you can get for yourself.
And yes, I have a knack for sharpening, and pride myself on being able to hand hone
a very good edge, this now tree top cuts, I think Kershaw did very well on the heat treat
as it has quite a sharp edge!

And the leather fob, a handy way, and, if I want, I can slip the fob beneath my belt for
a little added security, otherwise it's just pretty cool and the bead is slick!

Take a look at this comparison,
Top knife is the Benchmade Rukus
the next is a LARGE Sebenza
and finally the Kershaw Leek with G10 scales

off to the side is a Jim Serven custom folder with 1 7/8" blade
a real cutie ;)

But that Rukus, what a beast eh?

I really appreciate this comparison shot because I really had no idea about the size of the Rukus or the Sebenza (only 2 of the many knives I'm interested in), and now I know...thanks Gary.;)
