leeson variable speed motors

yeah thats what I was thinking of, the smaller belt sander type stuff. I have a delta 4x36 that I thought about getting a controller for just to slow the disc down sometimes for hard woods that burn to easily. But I think if I'm going to spend any money on it I'll just buy something better for grinding knives with. The beltsander works ok, but I really need to modify the platen to do anything good with it, and I don't want to to that because I use it just as much for woodworking.Maybe someday I'll just build a grinder like your doing.

i know how you feel, it's hard trying to do this kinda stuff on a teenager's salary. i don't think you have to madify you're machine for the controller, maybe you should give it a try.
