Left handed commander - what is the issue?

Derek: I have been trying for the last few weeks to order a left handed commander in plain edge and have found out that left hand models are made in partial serrated only. Why can't one plain edge left handed commander be made? Is it an issue of slowing the production line? Are there any options? I have communicated with Carrie on this and she has been very helpful. Can you share any insight? I would bet that there are other lefties out there with a similar concern.

Regards,
Doug

Derek is at the Shot show this weekend. I imagine he will be back with all of us right after that.

I can tell you that there have been plain edged Lefties in the past . . .

"Wild Ass Guess" on my part:

The knives are made in batches. As they are out of plain edged knives, you may have to wait until they need to make the next batch to get a plain edged one.

John, I can just picture you there gazing at that Damascus and chanting "I wish it had a wave. I wish it had a wave. I wish it had a wave. I wish..."

Eric, I thought you had disappeared!

And to answer your question, my lip was sticking out when I found out Ernie had brought CQC7Bs and Mach1s, but no Commanders.

But I ended up tracking one down . . . .

I know you've seen it, but I love showing it off

Nah, I'm not about to disappear from this place, John. Just real busy, that's all.
Even when I don't have time to post, I still make sure that I read all of the Emerson posts every day.
Okay, John,......so how many damascus Commanders are out there, and who would I have to kill to get one?

The one that I have is one of the first four that were made. They were handground by Ernie for the Blade Show in Atlanta to introduce the C/P line, but they didn't get done in time.

I understand that two may have gone to Japan and I don't know about the fourth.

Let me correct my statement; Who would I have to kill, OTHER than a usual suspect, to get one?
John, that Damascus Commander is just about the coolest blade I've ever seen. What a major score. Congrats.

Go here and when the picture loads, click on the picture itself. That'll bring up a high res version. You can really see the Damascus then.

Glad to hear I'm safe.

It's amazing how they can get steel to do that. Looks almost like wood grain! LOL
