left some blanks around and they started to rust?

ok quick question

i left some blanks ive been working on and they have started to rust a little, do i need to worry about anything with it when i go to remove it or just hit it with my belt sander and dont look back? i thought i remember seeing a warning about passing rust to other pieces but i cant really see how that would be a huge thing especially if my sander is in the same place as where my blanks were left and rusted and the belts are cleaned

Grinding carbon steel on a belt, then stainless steel, can make the stainless develop rust spots. Is that what you heard about?
