Left Tenacious Outside All Winter

Was working around the yard in the Fall. Final day out before the snow hit I was putting away the hose and cutting up some cardboard. I use my Tenacious as my everyday around-the-house knife for odd chores indoors and outside. I was in a hurry and a couple days later, was looking for my Tenacious. I usually put it in a utility drawer near the side door to my house. Rats. Couldn't find it. Checked outside, inside, in car, motorcycle saddlebag. Figure I would pick up another one down the road and just got out another knife. Well, I was outside this afternoon boxing some stuff and putting out the garden hose and chairs. I have a pretty big yard. Sitting on top of a black utility barrel out in the yard was my tenacious. Yeehaw. It was sitting out there all winter, fully open. Snow, sleet, rain, pretty much since mid-November. I was surprised. Only a small amount of rust on the blade. Absolutely no rust on the inside or on the spine. I am pretty impressed.

Sweet! Glad you found it with minimal damage. Great knife for what you use it for.

Doesn't look too bad at all. I accidentally laid down a stainless steel USA Old Timer stockman while doing yard work several years ago. Same deal, found it nearly a year later. Had a little more rust than your Tenacious, but was easly reconditioned. Carried it for several years after that. Laid it down again and and never could remember where. :(

I don't know why, but I keep going back to the knife. I have a large collection from low to high--, Chris Reeves, Benchmade, Spyderco, Boker, etc..But this is one of my favorite general utility. Does just about everything well. Best box cutter. IMO they hit a home run with this model. It's inexpensive, durable, and gets the job done. No-frills workhorse is the best way for me to describe it. Nothing fancy. But ergonomics are great and it just feels good in my hand.

It's one of the advantages of 8CR13Mov and 440A. Really good stainless properties!

Another request for posting a pic once it's cleaned up. For some reason before and after pics of rust cleanup are so satisfying.

I have a heavily used Tenacious as well. It was so scuffed up that I sanded the blade down. It was an eye sore. The logo is gone, "china" and "8cr13mov" also gone. Seeing your Tenacious with it's logo and all makes me jealous haha I miss that Spydie logo

I did the same with a BM Griptillian 154cm. It sat outside on the grass all winter. My father found it and figured if he found a random knife in the yard, it was mine. Good call dad....

It was perfectly fine. 5 yrs later, I still carry the grip pretty often.

I don't have anything as high end as CRK. Most expensive knife i own is my S110 G10 Manix 2.
But I keep coming back to the tenacious. It fits my hand well, functions perfectly, takes a wicked edge and sharpens quickly. Spyderco really knocked it out of the park with the Tenacious.
