A little change in style for me, but still fun to do. Bone is from a North Carolina whitetail taken last fall. It stayed buried in the compost pit for the winter to get clean and take on some color. Here's the spec's.

Blade: Forged 1084, edge quenched, tempered and etched, 4" long.
OAL: 8"
Handle: Whitetail leg bone, poured pewter collar.
Sheath: Veg-tan inner liner, deer rawhide outer, beaded collar, rawhide wrapped horsehair dangles.
Price: $185.00 includes shipping CONTUS.

Rick,That is a really nice knife,all around.If I did not pick up a knife yesterday from Ray Laconico,I'd be on this one,for sure.I have not reached a knife a day status,yet,lol.Real nice piece! Good luck,even though you do not need luck for this.Someone is gonna snatch this one up!!

That is one unique drop dead gorgeous hunting knife(sheath too)!

Question: Are you saying that the leg bone is not dyed at all and took on all that wonderful color naturally just being in the compost heap for 6-7 month??

Yep, that's what got the color into the bone. The compost pit saves all the boiling and scraping to clean the bone. It also leaves the color. You can scratch the surface and still have the same look. It did darken a bit with the wax finish (just paste furniture wax) and I think time will add to the patina.
