Leg Bone Period Bowie

This is my first fixed blade offering. As stated in my Friction Folder posting, I make primarily period stuff. I believe this knife to be fairly representative of early style Western Bowies and leather

Blade is .140 acid etched L-6
Convex ground with file work on top
Elk leg bone handle
14 3/8" overall with 8 3/8" blade. 1 7/8" at widest point
Sheath is hand stitched vegetable tanned leather

Good to see those photos back Larry. Period knives are a niche style but there must be a buckskinner out there that needs a nice knife like this.
 
How is the handle attached? I see the pins but do you use epoxy or what. I assume the handle is a nice air tight fit? thanks and keepem sharp
 
I clean the inside of the bone, score(rough it up) and use two part epoxy unless a purest ask for pine resin or similar. I pre-drill the pins dry, rough them up then put them in when the epoxy is wet. I have never had one returned for any reason.
