Hey all,

What considerations have to be made for a knifemaker to send knives to California? Can a 4.5" blade sharpened both sides get you into any trouble? I was under the impression the worst that can happen is the knife gets confiscated and that the buyer assumes all responsibility. How do other knifemakers handle this stuff?
TIA,
Tim

The package will arrive just fine.

Having a double edge knife may get the person in possession in trouble if found by the police due to it being a "dagger". That being said there are probably hundreds of thousands of double edge knives in California and sold in sporting good stores.

It can be both bought and sold in CA. You just can't possess it in certain jurisdictions. The only sales restrictions are for guns in CA not knives.

Now, try shipping a knife to Australia... I shipped a little utility blade and it made it through, but reading their shipping restrictions it was a miracle even that made it...

Thanks for the advice guys, just wanna make sure im not doing anything wrong.

Contact Doug Ritter and ask him. He runs kniferights and is very versed on the laws state by state.
