Legit Buck Grandady Barlow?

i have never seen the bolster stamped like that but i have very limited experience with the slipjoints

One thing that jumps out to me is no model#, at the time Buck had these made, all Bucks came with model#'s and the shield looks wrong.

Maybe the "Buck" was grandaddy's nickname or something. I don't think it is a genuine "Buck Knives" product. It doesn't look like any Buck knife I have ever seen. I am not a historian though. I could be wrong.

If you read the message, it says in part: "marked; "BUCK". The blade marking has been struck out".

First off it does not state it is a Buck, just marked BUCK.
Second, "the blade marking has been struck out", this usually means it is a second. I have a few seconds, mainly from Camillus. Buck as far as I know does not sell seconds.

To me it looks like a Camillus, or a Camillus off shoot, that is a second, with the word "BUCK" added to it.

It looks/describes like one of the Buck rejects that are donated to third world missionary projects...but since we're not allowed to link to active auctions, the point is moot, since we're not here, didn't see it, and don't know nuttin' about it...

I don't see nothin'...

I did read here that Buck employees were allowed to buy struck-out seconds at the factory...and that some were shipped out of the country to be used by missionaries for distribution to deserving followers...and that Camillus was sub-contracted by Buck to make some of their knives...

Could be anything...could even be the owners name..."Buck"...like Buck Owens, or Bucky Beaver... :)

I thought we're not allowed to link to our own auctions?

This link was just done for discussion.

EDIT: Just for the curious, I checked and per Coug' in the forum rules.

"You can post a link to a dealer site (on ebay or not) in an appropriate forum (not here in Community Center) if it's for discussion purposes -- to illustrate what knife you're talking about."

..."Link" ??? "Link" ???...what "Link" ???...I don't see nuthin' an I been lookin' all thru this thread...If there was a "Link" somewhere in here it musta been transfixified or sumthin' somehow... ( edited out?? ) ... Well if I can fight off the ol' "F/B" addiction I'm gonna have to read up on the "S/J" addiction that could start up in here at any time ... For some reason those slip-joints are startin' to look kine appetizin' to me lately...of course those fixed blades keep slappin' me in the head too...LOL... :p

AH HA!!! I found it!!! :)

And I was right...Cougar posted -

First off, DON'T SHILL EBAY AUCTIONS ON BLADEFORUMS! (or anywhere on the net; a lot of moderators will just ban you without warning.) Don't post links to active auctions, don't post the auction number, don't mention there's an auction going on, even if it isn't your auction.

...And Cougar goes on to warn me about bidding pools... :(

Edit: In answer to a question from Buckman#10, Cougar says -

Once an auction is completed you can post a link and talk about the knife, no problem then.

...I know NOTHING!!!...
