Length of paracord while camping??

I just take a 500' spool and cut off what I need.

I was considering buying a spool for my next cord purchase. But when in a lot of cases, the savings are only $1 per 100 ft or so, buying 100 foot hanks in assorted colors is kind of nice. If you want different colors for different applications that is.

I love the natural colors like black and OD, but having maybe 100ft. or so of orange would be a good idea.

Also I have cut mine into 10ft. 15ft. 25ft. anf 50ft. for my upcoming winter camping trip.

i'll usually take 4 pieces at 25' or 2 at 25' and 1 at 50', depending on what I have in mind. I like to keep 100' or so of a heavier line in the trunk of the vehicle as well

Sportsmans Guide has some deals now and then on 1000 yard spools of black military para cord. I've bought several from them for cheap over the years.

Once you get some like that you can then make your own spools on your equipment for the field. Back packs, knives, sheaths and a lot of other things you carry can have some added pretty easily. (see pic. Thats well over 60 feet right there on one knife sheath)

Amazingly enough mine are all 25 ft. 6 in. - the length of a suspension line on a T10!! Go figure.............

I take 50 feet to hang a bear bag and 25 feet (or so) to use along the way.

take the whole 100 ft.. doesnt take up all that much space.. and always good to have more than not enough

25-50ft of 550 cord. I just cut from it what I need. Though I think having two different hanks is a good Idea and I'll do that next time.

same for me,I usually buy 100ft and cut it into 4 25foot sections....:thumbup:

I usually do this or 5 20ft sections. It changes depending on the mood when I am cutting. But I usually have 25ft international orange in my PSK and then I usually have the 100ft cut in sections in my bag.
