Leopard integraframe

How many hours did that one take to make? It's obvious that there was a lot spent making that knife. I hope that a picture or two of it ends up in one of David's books one day.

Thanks for all the kind replies.

I've been planning on this knife since the first integraframe was finished over a year ago. I lost track of the hours I spent on it, but would venture to guess about 80 to 100 hrs went into this one.

I kept stalking my wife's cats waiting for them to pose similar to the leopard so I could check their anatomy and see what pictures can't reveal. They are still a little wary of me:D

Being a hunter and outdoorsman, wildlife themes come to mind first. Lots of potential for other subjects as well. A family group of elephants would be cool, but the thought of the effort it would take right now makes me want to lay down and take a nap. A dolphin coming out of a wave is one I might get complete for the Plaza show next month......feeling sleepy again:o

Incredible work, Bailey. I would suggest an African "big five" series, but I'm not sure how a 3D bull elephant would work on a folder;)

There's a French guy (or is he Swiss? Not sure) named Charles Roulin who does amazing carved handles. I'm only bringing this up because he developped a concept of open work carving within the frame that is very interesting and unique.

You know, my eyes keep going back to the leopard. But that scrollwork is phenomenal as well!

Love the story about the cats. Especially that you refer to them as your wife's!
I feel the same way about my wife's cat:)

The dolphin concept is cool, but how about a walrus? Then you could do some walrus tusk inlay or something. Or elephant with elephant tusk, etc.:D
Have a nice nap!

Great job Bailey. I think this must be the first of the Sawby lock you have done or have we not seen others?

I believe this is the second Sawby self-lock Bailey made after his prototype. I snagged it in June of '07. It has “2/06” engraved on the liner.

That is a world-class piece Bailey.:thumbup: Makes me even prouder to own one of your knives.

I can only wish it was that one.

This knife was ( is?) on a purveyor's table at the Chicago Show.

It's even more stunning in hand than in the excellent photo's that are posted.

I can hardly wait to see what Bailey's decides to do next.
