LEO's & Rescue personnel: Which knife do you carry "on duty"?

FF/EMT up in Rochester NY.CRKT M-16 fd knife in uniform pants along with a sak(soldier).Somtimes a BM 710 instead of the M-16.Turnout coat has emt shears and the m-16 gets dropped in for fire calls as well.

i retired form the tx dept of CJ, working as a investigator dealing w/sex offenders in april 01, so not current now.

'back in the day' though i carried a crawford ti kasper usually, or a BM 800S AFCK, and a mini AFCK usually also.

also occasionally carried fixed blades in the winter for fun, no one else did, in fact, i was the knife nut in our unit, other than me, SAK's and spydie delicas (and copies of.....) predominated.

H.M. security forces,

A Victorinox SAK "Swisschamp" in a leather pouch with a Maglite Solitaire & some other bits and pieces.

A Gerber 600 Multitool in pouch with accessory bits.

An Altoids tin PSK.

Even the above raises eyebrows & causes sniggers about my "Johnny Napalm" attitude. That is until someone needs a screwdriver to repair their glasses/knife to open a parcel/wire stripper to replace a plug etc. etc.

Baa! Baa! Bleat!

Cop in PA. I carry a BM 550 plainedge in my strongside front pocket and a Victorinox Compact knife in my off-side front pocket, both on and off duty. I've used knives to cut seatbelts, clothing for CPR and other sundry stuff, along with cutting down an attempted hanging victim.

LEO here. I carry a Leatherman Supertool in my duty bag, small SAK and Mini Bucktool in my left pocket and either a Spyderco Starmate or Benchmade 710 in my right cargo pocket.

When I worked uniform patrol I carried a Spyderco Endura serrated as a beater in a pouch on my duty belt and an Emerson 50/50 blk-ti CQC-7B or 50/50 blk-ti Commander in my right front pocket.

Now, in my plain clothes assignment, I usually carry my Carson medium model 4.

I work as a detective in our vice unit. My rotation of EDC's is as follows,

Benchmade 710HS, Spyderco Endura, Busse Killer B/with an excellent sheath from On Scene Tactical, Boker Fairbairn Boot knife, and a BM 42.

I find that I carry the BM 42 the most just because it doesn't look like a knife a cop would carry. I think most knives with pocket clips are scream cop to many bad guys.

Of course the companions to the sharp edges is my baby an Ed Brown Kobra .45

I am a Mountie in Northern Canada. I have been carrying my OE Magna for a few months now, in my right vest pocket. Supertool on the duty belt. I may buy one of the cheaper Spyderco styles like an endura or something, cause it would be lighter, but I won't carry anything too expensive, due to the "loss potential" when fighting.

BTW, I hope nobody on duty is carrying any type of neck rig that won't break away when you are choked with it!!

Strider GB (Mick's got it in for a tune up right now however :( ), Benchmade 722BT, CRKT 7011LE Apache, and TOPS Stormrider or BK&T C/U-7 in the warbag.
