I'm sure there has been a thread about this before, but searching is evidently above my paygrade :( I just wanted to find out what our LEO's are using as an EDC (both on and off duty). Thanks everyone!

I'm a Deputy Sheriff, but since I work at a jail, I can't technically carry my EDC in to work. Otherwise, it's an Emerson CQC-7A backed up by a Victorinox Pioneer.

I rotate between these, and they have seved me well!

I carry the Ox Forge Black Knife and the Z2LED on duty as well as my EK CQC Super 7 and a Colonial Parachute / Survival Switchblade in my front shirt pocket.

My CQC Super 7 is always in my pocket work or off duty, and most of the time I carry one of the others as well.

Off Duty at least one of these are always in my pocket.

Working around home or out looking for snakes I will carry these.

EDC on duty Benchmade AFO II. When I am deployed the Benchmade AFO II and the cold steel RECON, with a leatherman wave.

Benchmade Full Grip PE 550 right pocket

Boker Magnum Automatic tanto partial serrated left pocket

Leatherman PST (the original) on the belt

I'd appreciate it if the LEOs who participate here would use their better conscience to talk to their fellow officers about knives as tools that GOOD PEOPLE carry... and to avoid the predetermined BS theory that anyone with a knife is a threat. The truth is... anyone with an imagination or knowledge of improvisation could be a threat. Perhaps offensive brandishing is a threat... LAW does not magically cause threat. They way things COULD be headed, good people could be considered a threat for no reason other than potential...

EVERY PERSON here could be a criminal having never acted against humankind in any way.

Find lots of snakes in the Bay area?

yes.

The development plan for the peninsula includes lots of open areas with fields and trees. They make an excellent habitat for snakes et. al.

Take it to political or whine and cheese. This thread is about knives.

k, I just want you to know this post caused me to part with a good deal of money. I have for the last couple of days been trying very, very hard to convince myself I didnt *really* want a 615 but youve driven me over the edge.

happy birthday to me or something.

anyway, I love the way your military shows its wear. the military is a great knife and I hope it continues to serve you well.

What makes the Spydie Police good for LEOs? Is it the reach? I would think that cops would just use knives for small utility stuff since they have a gun.

Usually larger folders are easier to use, especially while wearing gloves. Also, the Police's thin, long blade makes it a little easier to use in certain situations.

Personally, I carry an Emerson CQC-7 CE for many yrs. I've been using my Sebs, but will probably try something else. I'm in Admin. nowadays, so using a nicer (More expensive) knife is not as big an issue as before.

Glock 40 cal up front. Kahr mk9 backup / off duty ...aka everywhere. Oh, knives knives....Spydie tenacious (plain edge-serrated anything sucks imo-keep it razor sharp and you dont need cute little tacticool points on your knife's edge!). The spydie is clipped inside front left pocket, and Victorinox Farmer in back right pocket next to my wallet. The wallet helps keep it oriented upright. I work plain clothes so sometimes ,instead of the Vic., I carry a kabar becker necker clipped to the belt of my slacks way back on my left side so it cannot be seen through the open front of my coat but only while on high risk assignments. Never Know when a Homicide suspect or lubed up junkie wants to take it to the ground and try to "borrow" your front piece-where ya don't wanna be. I can access my shit stickers pretty well set up like this even on the ground.

On duty - Glock model 22 and BM710, i was carrying the Nimravus on my duty belt, but got lazy one day while getting dressed. i'll probably put the Nim back on my duty belt and still keep the 710 in my pocket. sometimes i have the Kimura in my pocket, also.

Off duty - full size stainless 1911, Nimravus (IWB), and either the 710, the Kimura, or the BM42 (now that i have it back)

i used to carry a short sword in my patrol vehicle. ya never know, brush, snakes, zombies, there's just no tellin'

On duty: Cold Steel X2 Voyager in right sap pocket (perfect fit, light weight, huge blade....what could be better!), Spyderco Harpy in right back pocket, Gerber multi-tool (the original one) on belt, Buck Creek stainless doctor's knife in right front pocket (my apple-eating knife), CRKT Kiss in left front pocket (my money clip), and last but not least, a Leatherman Micra on my keychain.

Off duty: Benchmade AFO or ZT 350, and the CRKT Kiss listed above.

Right now I'm carrying the Emerson A-100 on duty and the Spyderco Delica 4 off. I change my duty carry every once in a while, but right now the Emerson sees more time than most of the others and it's been working out great.
