Aight, I am wondering what you porkers think of it that actually have one. If you don't want people to know you have one, then PM me please.

I have an itch for a 1911 and am slowly, very slowly starting to save for one. Figure I'd get some info before I decide.

Thanks... :)

According to Davidson's gun locater the MSRP is $2889  and not even available!

I don't own one but Les Baer Custom is the top dog just like Busse, no bad thing been said about their 1911.

I am saving up for a S&W 1911 but the funds come going to Busse  :o :D

Yeah, I'm just wondering what people think of the coating/finish, which model it is, etc.

As for the price, for that, I would probably sell the knife for $500 to be honest. Help offset the price of the gun.:o

My experience of Les Baers guns is not good at all! They make it impossible for guys with no $ to acquire flawless and absolutely remarkable weapons.:D

Seriously though, I have read two different accounts elsewhere of purchasing this combo. In both cases, the owners put the set into a safe without using either piece. The only 1911s I've seen Baer really categorized with is Wilson Combat, again, Top of the Line. The Busses, I certainly can't tell YOU anything new about them.

Not much help, but thought I'd add my $.02;)

Uhhhhh... This is like trying to find someone who actually uses their FOAB or MOAB

I appreciate your guys help. I am aware the Les Baer is the Busse combat of the gun world. I have seen his pistols, but was particularly interested on feed back.

If/when I purchase this pistol, it will be my EDC. Will replace my HK USP .45 Just was hoping someone whose been shooting theirs would help me convince myself. :D Oh well...

When/if I can ever afford one, I will shoot it. I will EDC the knife and gun combo.

I hope they are available for a loooong time

Holy crap! I'd buy that knife from you for $500 when you get the gun. Seriously. BTW, I handled the samples at Blade and can say that I'm glad that they wern't available for sale at the show becuase I'd be a couple grand deeper on my CC.

Bryan,

You may want to ask this question over in that other forum....

Good idea. I'll do some research. I'm just trying to convince myself before I seriously start packing the money away. $3K (Or just under) is A LOT of money. But I understand the quality aspect too.

My own personal feeling is that you would get more value for your money by purchasing a bare-bones 1911 (better still, a Commander) from Springfield or Colt's and sending it to a 'smith of your choosing. I have been wrestling with the urge to send something down to Ted Yost, but I have resisted the temptation so far. My one custom was done up by AP&W (the Springfield Armory Omega Longslide) and it more than answers my needs.

In the area of self-defense carry, I have personal comfort level issues with carrying a single action pistol and prefer a traditional double action pistol (like my Novak's customized S&W 4516) or a revolver.

My EDC right now is the HK USP, but one concern is that I could hit the safety and over extend thus decocking it. Granted, the double action will come in handy in that circumstance. I carry as stage whatever, cocked and locked, at the 4-5 o'clock position at a 45* angle leather holster. I just have an itch for a 1911 and figure I might as well go with the best on the first go round.

Revolvers are great, but just not my cup of tea right now, with the exception of a .44 mag for bears. But that's another topic

Yeah, but I bet Ted Yost would get in a wee bit of trouble for putting the name "Busse" and the side like the Baer has. Besides, his guns don't come with the Busse knife that KAAK is going to sell me. ;)

Hmmm... seeing how the market has a demand for the knife, let's go for $700 :D

But seriously, if I come up a bit short, I'll sell the knife as a backorder and ship it when it arrives with the pistol. :D Good business technic (sp?) I think

thinking. I might have a trade or 2 worth that combo...
or
Have to start selling

Hmmm... If I had the funds to order these, I would and do some horse tradin' for some infi. Again, here comes the Jinormis IF

Wishing I could tie paracord or something to bring in some extra cash. Any ideas that doesn't involve blood or "other" donations? Selling blood means when you need a blood transfusion, you pay a butt load more than if you didn't sell.

I have EDC'd a Baer Concept VII that I had Baer Hard Chrome for me - it was a fine pistol.

Very accurate, very reliable. The hard-chrome finish made it perfect for me and the Texas summers I carried it in a IWB holster. The HC finish laughed at the kydex holsters I had when I finally traded it off. The original owner wanted it back, and in a moment of weakness... I let it go.

I used that pistol to compete with, teach classes with, and admire on rainy days. It never was reviewed by other entusiasts without a compliment given. People who know 1911s, know quality when they see it. Sadly, I didn't own a digi camera then, and do not have any photos of it...

I have owned many different brands, and have a very strong opinion on 1911-style pistols. I think Baer are outstanding, but today Kimbers will do for my needs. They are a very good value on the 'Tactical' series, considering the features, accuracy and cost.

I also respectfully disagree with the concept of buying a Colt or other base pistol, and tricking it out to Baer standards. It has been my experience that you will spend more in the long run, and not recoup your investment if you want or need to sell. Baer factory guns hold their value over a custom build on another factory base model. And in the end, you will spend the same amount or more to get to the level of fit, finish and function of a Baer.

Some day, I'll own another Concept VII with a hard-chrome finish. It makes me smile.

Thank you Rat-30. Very informative and educational. As for the kimbers, ehhh. I've heard they have gone down hill a bit. But I can't say for sure personally from lack of experience. I know Les Baer is one of the top makers, guess I'm trying to justify saving and sacrificing for such a sweet piece of craftsmanship. That and I enjoy others opinions and experience to help, but not direct, my decision. :)

I hope that makes sense lol

I don't yet have the funds for the Busse/Baer combo, maybe in ten years, but I can tell you I love my TRS and Commanche. Both operate flawlessly. I carried both off and on for several years at my business.
