Les George VECP or XM-18?

The VECP seems to be all the rage around here as of late. I have to admit, I've been drooling over them for awhile now. I generally am not crazy about all Ti knives, that's why I got rid of my Sebanza, but the VECP still just looks so darn tempting. I love the blade shape, the steel, and the stonewash. With the new batch of XM-18s coming up, I have an opportunity to get one direct so it would be a little cheaper than the VECP. I do already have an XM-18 so I would be getting another, but likely a slicer instead of a spanto so it would be a little different.

I love my XM, it's definitely my nicest knife and one of my favs. I only have the funds for one of the two. You guys with both, please let me know your opinion on the matter. Thanks!

If you already have an XM get the VECP. The finish is insane. Been a bunch of them on the exchange the last few days.

Thanks Hauling. Just out of curiosity, if I didn't have an XM-18, would you recommend the XM or VECP first?

hmm not sure about that one. The XM is a little thinner and lighter which I value pretty highly, others may not though. I'd say XM to answer your question.

I'd get the VECP. I traded my 3.5" XM tonight, actually. For me, the VECP's ergos are far better and is very smooth. Also, I found the VECp lighter and easier to carry. The XM is a fine knife, no doubt.

I have three VECPs now and numerous Hinderers. I would take a VECP anyday over an XM. Don't get me wrong I love the XMs and still carry/use them but theres just something extra special in my book to the VECP! An amazing knife! :D

A Hinderer is like a Caddy where a VECP is like a Bentley! Les kicked it up a few notches in my book!

Anyone who has seen the majority of my posts knows I'm a Hinderer guy.

But, since you are able to order direct and already have an XM, I suggest you get the VECP.

Why?

Because if you don't you will still want it. By the way you worded the first post, it's obvious the VECP is calling you.

I thought calling the XM a Caddy was a compliment. Sorry we can call it a Hummer if you want to! I love my XM's! They are amongst my favorite knives in a collection of around 200 knives! I just really love my VECPs!! The more I think about it this is like those posts where people wanna compare Chris Reeve to Striders. They are both fantastic knives but each have their own qualities!

If you already have an XM-18, trust me....you won't regret getting the VECP. I got one this last Friday and I haven't been able to put it down. Pictures do not do the VECP justice, it has many many more subtle details that can only really be appreciated in person. They are both absolutely amazing pieces of work but like i said earlier, if you already have an XM-18...do yourself a favor and pick up a VECP.

Wow, can't believe the overwhelming response on the VECP. At first I thought they might just be the popular knife of the moment, but all you guys have put me over the edge. I'm getting one!

Hmmm... I must be weird. I traded my XM-18 for a VECP v2. I promptly sold the VECP. I didn't really "get" all the love for either of them. That being said, I am sure that someday I will own both again. Reading this thread makes me feel like a kid looking into the windows of a candy shop.

Photos make threads better. Here's pics I have posted before but fit here well.
