Les George VECP or XM-18?

The VECP is an excellent knife coming the great of favorite knives. Sleek like a sebenza, sturdy like a hinderer, smooth like a umnumzaan and slices like a para 2.

I like the VECP ALOT, probably an unhealthy amount. I think its one heck of an all around good blade profile, and the handle design looks very sound as well as the lock. XMs are very cool also but I just think the VECP offers more as an edc.

I have had a XM-18 3.5 Slicer, XM-18 3 Spanto, and a VECP v.2. It took a little while to grow on me and a trip to Les to straighten out a small issue but I only have the VECP now and look for reasons to use it. It is definitely my favorite knife and for my uses -cutting, LOL - i think has the best blade shape. It is super smooth and rock solid, i dont think that i could ask for much more.

I just ordered a steel flame crusader cross clip for my vecp so I guess I'll be keeping it

I will get to the point and then elaborate. I've had a VECP V.2 and an XM-18 3.5" gen 3. Now I only have the VECP.

Both knives have great fit and finish and ergonomics. Honestly, my XM had a better lock up than my VECP. However, I could not get past the PATHETIC detent on my XM. If I have a flipper I want it to reasonably easy to deploy quickly without a wrist flick. Sorry, but that's just me.

With that being said I'm not sure I'm in love with the blade steel/heat treat on the VECP. I pried a few staple gun staples and rolled the edge of my VECP all to HELL! I'm not sure if that was something that will be worked out now that I've sharpened the edge and exposed newer metal or not. All I know is it DOES make me baby my VECP a bit. I'm sorry I don't believe in safe queens. I use knives!

I'd love to try a gen 4 XM, but I don't think the XM's are worth it, to me, for the secondary price. If I was LEO/Military I think the price is MORE than fair. Since I'll never get that discount, I'll stick with my VECP.

Love my VECP, it reeks of quality. For almost 50% less than the XM I am more than satisfied.

Personally, I'd go with the VECP. I love the Hinderers, but I just don't think I'll ever pay 800+ for a production folder. VECPs are $300+ cheaper.

I have had 4 Vecp's.. I sold them all.. I tried.. But that spoon clip.. Ahhhhhhh sucks!
That pointy end on the Vecp is not Harley friendly.. Try riding 300 miles with that point sticking you in the crotch if your hip.
XM 18 is my favorite and I am more than happy with it.

To each their own. But to me there is no comparison..

I would much rather have a Sebbie or Startac than a VECP.

I finally pulled the trugger and bought a VECP from a forum member. It is one of the Monkey Edge models with black DLC coating on the blade. Should be here early next week with the holidays, but I am pretty excited. Definitely won't be getting rid of my XM-18, that one will be with me for good, but I'm excited to add the VECP to my stable! Thanks for the input guys, you really pushed me over the edge to getting one of these. I wouldn't have otherwise.
